Schweitzer

Summer or winter, Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers a mountain-load of alpine activities for visitors. Ranked nationally in the top 32 resorts by both Ski and Snow Country magazines, Schweitzer is the largest ski and snowboard mountain in Idaho.

There is an average 300 inches of powder in winter,  and its 2,900 skiable acres are acclaimed for the varied terrain, with 92 named runs offering everything from adrenaline-inducing double black diamond chutes to terrific tree skiing to family-friendly groomers – all served up with gorgeous views over Lake Pend Oreille, a 43 mile long lake with 111 miles of shoreline, and the deepest lake in Idaho.  The Cabinet Mountains to the east and vistas of the rugged peaks of the Selkirk range stretching north into Canada. The mountain has a top elevation of 6,400 feet with 2,400 feet vertical, served by four high-speed (two quads, a triple and a six-pack) and three double chairlifts, plus the Idyle-Our T-bar, a beginner’s Magic Carpet® and a handle tow.

The resort village offers fine dining and a range of excellent lodging choices, including the  luxurious Selkirk Lodge with its outdoor pool and spa, and The Hummbird, a boutique hotel located in the heart of the Schweitzer Village.

Come summer, the resort offers a host of warm-weather activities, including hiking, huckleberry picking, disc golf, tennis, a climbing wall and bungee jump trampoline and a long zip line. Horseback rides and snowmobile and backcountry ski tours are also offered through Mountain Horse Adventures and Selkirk Powder Company.  Of all the summer activities MOUNTAIN BIKING is by far the BIGGEST!

Mountain Biking at Schweitzer offers a little bit of something for everyone.  Whether you're a downhill junky, cross country fanatic or just looking for a fun outing on the mountain, you'll find fun trails to explore around the mountain.  There are over 40 miles of trails at Schweitzer. Start in the village and warm your legs up as you head out to Picnic Point to take in the sweeping views of the mountains and Lake Pend Oreille. From there, your options are wide open. For those looking for a downhill thrill, Schweitzer has many intermediate to expert options.  All downhill trails begin at the top of the Great Escape Quad and descend 1700' to the Schweitzer Village.

Ready for more vertical? Use the Highpoint Trail to connect Schweitzer to the Little Sand Creek Basin trail system for 4000 vertical feet of fun single track all the way to the valley.
